KEYNOTE ON ETHICS AND SCIENTIFIC INTEGRITY: RESEARCH & INNOVATION RELATIONSHIPS


SPEAKERS

Alexei Grinbaum is a researcher within the philosophy of science group (LARSIM) at CEA-Saclay. With a doctorate from the Ecole Polytechnique, he specializes in quantum computing. Since 2003, Alexei Grinbaum has focused on the ethics of new technology, particularly information technology, synthetic biology and nanotechnology. He is a member of the Allistene alliance’s Committee on the ethics of digital technology and science research (CERNA) and a founding member of the Paris Centre for Quantum Computing (PCQC). The title of his last book is, “Mécanique des étreintes. Intrication quantique" (Encre Marine, 2014). He is currently working on “Satanas Ex Machina : Libérer l’intelligence artificielle” (Desclée de Brouwer, due to be published in 2018), in which he advocates the need to recognize the value of chance in machine learning by using an original method based on the joint analysis of digital technology's ethical problems and of mythological tales.

KEYNOTE: INNOVATION AT THE SERVICE OF TRAINING AND EDUCATION


SPEAKERS

Hélène Gestin, Director of the Cube School at Le Cube, Issy-Les-Moulineaux (first center dedicated to digital creation)
A graduate of the Institute of political studies in Lille and a holder of a master’s degree in museology and new media, Hélène Gestin is passionate about digital creation and innovative educational practices. She joined Le Cube, a pioneering digital creation center in France, in 2004 as the production manager for the artist residency program. She then became the deputy manager for the administration and coordination of large-scale events such as the Cube Festival. She has been the director of the Cube School since 2014. Today, she dedicates her time to the development of digital education projects and new training courses that put creativity at the heart of digital transformation challenges in order to provide life-long support to all types of learner.

Isabelle Demachy
A chemical physics professor at Université Paris-Sud since 2006, Isabelle Demachy was made the vice president responsible for Pedagogical development in June 2016 after working as the Training vice dean in the Science faculty for five years.
With the assistance of the Pedagogical innovation department, she is currently driving the development of courses and teaching methods by creating numerous solutions that support teachers and add value to their commitment to this profession. Through her course development work, she is closely involved in the construction of the University of Paris-Saclay.

Carla Gohin, Head of Research & Innovation, PSA Group Innovation strategy

Antoine Latreille, co-director of the School of Law and Political Science at Université Paris-Saclay, is a professor of private law. He is a researcher at the Center for Studies and Research in Immaterial Law after having directed for more than ten years. He also directs the Master's degree in Innovation and Industrial Property Law in the mentions of Université Paris-Saclay Intellectual Property Law / Digital Law. Her special area of teaching and research is intellectual property law specifically applied to information technologies and other innovative technologies. He is also more interested in the legal issues of digital and internet (personal data, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, open data ...).

Benoist Vercherin, Innovation Lead, KIC Climate France
After graduating from ESIEE Paris, Benoist Vercherin combined both French and American engineering training by then obtaining a Master of Science from Caltech (USA). This second degree provided him with a wide spectrum of systemic knowledge.
While working in the energy sector at Schlumberger and Siemens AG, he developed projects focused on the effectiveness of energy systems in different geographic contexts, in partnership with utilities companies. In 2015, he joined Climate-KIC to support its partners and entrepreneurs in fostering innovations in the fight against climate change. Placing itself at the heart of ecosystems, Climate-KIC catalyzes ideas to create a new zero-carbon economy and a resilient society.
